A Case of Chronic Pancreatitis Caused by Ascarial Ovae Associatied with Massive Gastric Bleeding

Abstract
Recently at the Army Hospital, a case of chronic pancreatitis caused by ascarial ovae associated with massive gastric bleeding was seen in a 22 year old soldier, who had symptoms of continuous epigastric pain, vomiting and headache in the beginning and later severe hematemesis and melena were occurred. On the exploratory gastrotomy, duodenotomy and jejunotomy no gross findings were observed, except only oozing pattern from the mucosal surface of the gastric antrum.
The pancreas was increased in size and considerably various noduralities were noted on the entire surface of the pancreas without adherent nor changes of the regional lymph nodes.
The microscopic findings of the surgical specimen revealed that chronic pancreatitis possibly caused from ascarial ovae.
